Citlalli Luna

Hi, I’m Citlalli, a book-loving, story-obsessed, creative soul who calls California’s Central Valley home. I’m a proud nerd, a badass academic, and someone who finds magic in the everyday moments that shape who we are. I’ve spent my life immersed in stories—whether from the pages of a book, the traditions of my family, or the landscapes of the Central Valley, where the pastels of storm clouds paint my favorite skies.

Home is everything to me. It’s the laughter that fills the air at family gatherings, the activism my family lived and taught me, and the traditions that ground us in love and resilience. Home is also Calaveras Con Cariño, a project born from my family’s heart that celebrates life, memory, and culture through the Mexican-Indigenous tradition Dia de Los Muertos. It’s a reflection of who I am: someone deeply connected to her roots, driven by creativity, and passionate about honoring stories in all their forms.

My journey hasn’t necessarily been easy,( whose has, am I right?) but it’s been worth it. I’ve worked hard to get to where I am today—leading with empathy, staying true to myself, and pouring my heart into everything I create. Whether teaching rhetoric and writing at my University, designing heartfelt and authentic websites, or crafting meaningful brands, I approach each endeavor with a blend of intellect, care, and determination.

At my core, I am a storyteller. It’s the thread that weaves together my love for books, my work as an academic, and my creative projects. I believe stories connect us, inspire us, and remind us of our shared humanity. Through De Luna Studios, I bring that belief to life, helping others share their unique stories with care, authenticity, and intention.

born and raised in the central valley of california, where every field holds a story and every sunset inspires creativity.

From the heart of California, to the heart of my brand—this is my story.

Art is where I let my imagination run wild. Whether I’m layering soft washes of watercolor, sketching with a pencil, or diving into bold brushstrokes, creating is something my soul needs to do. I love pairing my paintings with poems—sometimes whimsical, sometimes introspective—letting words and colors dance together to tell a story. Every time I match a poem to a painting (or vice versa), something new happens. It’s like a spark—a dialectic between the two—that creates something entirely unexpected and opens the door to even more creativity and conversation, just like Audrey Lorde said.

My art is full of experiments, a little chaos, and a whole lot of heart. Some days it’s a quick sketch, other days it’s a painting that turns into an unexpected masterpiece (or an abstract piece of “art” that I make sure stays in the back of my closet lol). Writing adds a secret layer to my creative process, giving me a quiet space to reflect and play. For me, being an artist isn’t about perfection; it’s about having fun, embracing the mess, and discovering the magic that happens when creativity takes on a life of its own.
